Structural Space Mezzanine Packages
PWI can design your mezzanine as a complete bolt-assembled package eliminating the need for on-site welding or fabrication. This is the perfect solution for a ship to site customer assembled package or when contamination and/or spark resistance is a concern.
Bar Joist construction is a common option to mezzanine construction and offers a different set of benefits. Bar Joists are engineered specifically for your project and requirements. This allows a greater flexibility in design and column spacing or floor obstruction.
Beam weld-assembled construction is a very typical and economical option to mezzanine construction and provides many benefits. Structural beams can be more readily available minimizing the lead-time as well as reduce the on-site fabrication time for non-bolt together installations.
This design is ideal for clean room facilities and in wash down situations.
We can design and install Custom Access Catwalks as well as cross over stairs to gain access to processes or equipment.
Mezzanine Decking Options
Plywood over OSB
Plywood over OSB (or 2 layers of OSB) is a very economical option for mezzanine flooring. It is especially popular in the RV industry where materials are readily available and the top layer is easily replaced as needed.
Plywood Over B-Deck
Plywood over B-deck is another economical choices for mezzanine flooring. It’s a very light weight option that is ideal for situations such as foot and light cart traffic, and as an underlayment for carpeting or tile in offices.
ResinDek Over B-Deck
ResinDek® is available in a light duty or heavy-duty mezzanine flooring panel that features the durability, showcase appearance and maintainability. Available unfinished or Gray Diamond Seal® finishes, ResinDek® LD provides a stain, scratch and skid resistant surface that won’t delaminate like other decking materials.
Concrete Over B-Deck
Concrete over B-deck is a strong mezzanine flooring option that is noncombustible and easy to clean. It’s a permanent structure that is poured in place and is the most expensive flooring option available. Concrete is the ideal choice for heavy manufacturing and extremely wet wash down areas. Concrete over B-deck provides both a fire resistant and sound resistant option for your mezzanine flooring needs.
Tread Plate Over B-Deck
Steel plate over B-deck is the ideal mezzanine flooring option for heavy point loads, catwalks and other applications. In situations of extreme point loads, steel plate will help distribute the weight efficiently throughout the mezzanine structure. Steel plate over B-deck is extremely durable and fire resistant, but can cost more than other flooring options.
Steel Floor Plate
Steel floor plate is the ideal mezzanine flooring option for heavy point loads, catwalks and other applications. In situations of extreme point loads, steel plate will help distribute the weight efficiently throughout the mezzanine structure. Steel plate is extremely durable and fire resistant, but can cost more than other flooring options. Common applications to use steel plate without B-deck are in the food and beverage industry where plants require strict sanitary conditions.
Heavy-Duty Steel Bar Grating
Heavy-duty steel bar grating is an ideal choice when light and airflow are important factors. Our typical bar grating is 82% open to provide air circulation and lighting below the mezzanine. Bar grating is noncombustible and in certain instances may not require a sprinkler system underneath the mezzanine*
